The Territory
| Following in the footsteps of St. Benedict between Umbria and Lazio takes the visitor on an emotional voyage of continual discovery, which is not confined within the walls of the holy places along the route, but continues seamlessly into the surrounding territory: the area is rich in natural, cultural and gastronomic highlights, high quality tourist attractions which blend well with the themes of the Benedictine Way. This area of the site allows visitors to “widen their gaze” to include these other places, suggesting additional visits along the route to sites of special interest and other locations. For clarity, the territory covered by the Benedictine Way has been divided into 4 geographical areas, each with its own characteristics and presented in simple table format, which can be printed out to use as a guide. | |
